Boat Trips & Excursions - if available

Aquabus

Cardiff Marine Village,, Penarth Rd, Cardiff CF11 8TU, UK – 029 2034 5163

A bit disappointed. We paid £5 each adult for a trip to Penarth. We choose our boat trip carefully making sure we chose one with commentary. They appear to leave once an hour. The trip was for 45 minutes from Cardiff Mermaid Quay to Penarth return. We bought our tickets from a kindly lady. We made our way onto the boat. There were ramps so made it easy if you had a pushchair. We sat at the front of the boat but we could not hear the commentary. It was a bit worrying as there would have been a safety message on this too. So no ideas where the life jackets were. Half way through the journey we moved to the middle of the boat, although this was slightly better, we could not hear for children crying. Although this was not the children's or the boat companies fault. Coming back from Penarth we sat at the back of the boat and although this was a lot better I did not hear any commentary at all for the engine, but at least did not hear the children crying. Been out on the bay was lovely, seeing the sea birds diving and other boat users and the fresh sea air. The boat was clean. I would recommend a better sound system which would make the trip more enjoyable. Someone to greet you when you board the boat would have been nice too, with a helping hand if needed. Customer service 2/3 out of 5.

A lovely place to walk with your dogs or family, along the river taff, swings for the children and shops very close by for an ice cream,

Child friendly open space close to shops and cafes only thing to watch out for is the river which is fenced off.

Victoria Park

Victoria Park Rd E, Cardiff CF5 1EH, UK – 029 2068 4000

Fantastic on a hot summer's day! The waterpark is great fun and even if it's busy (and it definitely will be when it's hot) kids can have a great time! Suitable for all ages. There are also other great facilities- volleyball, tennis, basketball, five aside football, separate football goals, bouncy slide, small crazy golf course, trampolines, flower gardens, swings/climbing/slides/etc. And a kiosk that sells hot and cold food (chips, ice cream, drinks, etc.). It's also a decent size to play ball sports, walk your dog, or have a picnic. A great day out!

An excellent park with great facilities. There's food and drink available, public toilets, play facilities for a variety of ages and an amazing splash park. There's lots of open space for the kids to play in too. Parking is also little difficult, but free on the street. Definitely a good place for a picnic and an afternoon out.

Caeau Pontcanna Fields

42 Fields Park Rd, Cardiff CF11 9HY, UK – 029 2068 4000

Lovely big grassy area close to the city centre. Nice walks around the fields and usually some football or cricket games being played in the summer. Nice place for disposable BBQ's or relaxing in peace.

Fab site right in the centre of Cardiff. If you are going to any event at the Principality stadium this place could save you a fortune in accommodation costs. It's right in the lark and you wouldn't know you were in the centre of a city. Facilities are good and the staff are lovely. I can very much recommend the site.

Great website!. Click below to find gardens open during the year around Cardiff or Glamorgan. There are photos and lots of detail about the garden.
